Shad Baker is an avid hiker, hunter and backpacker. He currently works for the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service as a ANR agent in Whitesburg in Letcher County, KY. In 1998, he was one of three founding members of the Pine Mountain Trail Conference and has served alternately as Vice-President, and President since its inception. Shad was involved in preliminary discussions to create the Western Appalachian Alternative Trail, which would later take the name - Great Eastern Trail, a name he proposed. He was present at the birth of GET in 2007 and has served on its Board since that time.
